Happy Thanksgiving!

Ok, so Thanksgiving doesn't happen for 1.5 more days, but I'm already at my Thanksgiving destination (country), so I'm celebrating already. Celebrating Thanksgiving is also a good excuse for procrastinating on my 10 page paper.


I've been really lucking out when it comes to fabric hunting lately. Lots of grays and blacks and wools (which people seem to have been asking for lately). I'm thinking about keeping a photographic inventory of all of my fabrics posted on my blog.... Will have to get to know the scanner a little better I guess. I had to do some reorganizing this week to make room for the new arrivals. Katherine has been helping by sitting on all of the fabric before it goes up into its cubby.

Made the front page today!

So just happened to see the Watcher Jacket, featured on the front page of etsy! It was under "seasonal fashion." Here is what it looked like.

Big Changes for November

Recently, there have been a few big changes for the Rare Turtle Etsy shop. I spent this weekend at my folks' place in the country of southern Minnesota and reshot all of the photos (thanks to my husband for being the photographer!). It was very very cold and gray, but they turned out pretty nicely. I also added three new designs: the Thank You Dress, the Watcher Jacket, and the Early to Bed Dress (shown below in that order). It's snowed and melted a few times this November, and I've been haunting the secondhand stores and gathering a lot of really nice flannel and wool for the Winter season.

Also this weekend, I visited a sewing store that was relocating and having a big sale, so I traded in my old sewing machine and upgraded to a fancy new Janome!! Woo hoo!! It makes very fine and fancy buttonholes, so I am looking for excuses to add buttonholes to everything now. Here it is in it's new home...
